Matt Haydock
I am a New Zealand trained General Surgeon. My training was across the full spectrum of the specialty and also included dedicated time in thoracic and vascular surgery.
My advanced subspecialty training was completed in Queensland, Australia in Hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB), Upper Gastrointestinal (UGI), Transplant, and Robotic Surgery. This time allowed me to work with internationally reknowned Robotic HPB surgeons. This enables me to provide contemporary, evidence-based surgical care using both open and minimally invasive techniques, tailored to each patient’s individual needs.
I am committed to delivering high-quality, expert surgical care while placing a strong emphasis on clear communication. I believe that patients are able to make the best decision when they fully understand their condition and treatment options. Therefore I take the time to provide explanations that are practical, straightforward, and easy to understand.
I also work in the public healthcare system at Middlemore Hospital. My area of work there is General, HPB, UGI and Vascular Surgery.
Outside of medicine I am a former competitive cyclist and enjoy keeping active in the outdoors as well as time with my family and friends.
I am happy to recieve direct referral from patients, GP's or specialists. For complex problems, I will introduce you to a team of other specialists that I work closely with.
